Position Summary:
Oversees and coordinates customer service (admissions and gift shop), merchandising, inventory control, and other related activities. Schedules, leads, and oversees the day-to-day activities of customer service activities.

Oversees, coordinates, and performs computerized cash register sales transactions and cash management.
Monitors sales through the cash register; resolves discrepancies, prepares, reconciles, and records cash receipts for deposit, and prepares sales reports as required by USU.
Hires & supervises part-time student employees, provides training, scheduling and team building.
Controls stock and inventory, places orders, and sees paperwork through from creation to payment and tracks all documents and wages.
Yearly inventory and reporting of same, decisions on stock and sales and accountability for all finances relative to wages, purchases and stock.
Track gift shop accounts for deposits, purchases and wages.
Track admissions statistics and report in staff meeting of information.

The Prehistoric Museum creates understanding and appreciation of natural and cultural processes that formed the geologic, fossil and prehistoric human records found in eastern Utah. We do this through educational and interpretive programs based upon our academic research, preservation programs, authentic exhibits, and the creative efforts of our staff and community.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:2 years’ experience in retail that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.
Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of mathematics.
Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Knowledge of retail stock management and control principles and procedures.
Ability to summarize and reconcile retail sales and operating statistics, and to prepare routine statistical reports.
Ability to supervise and train part-time student employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Ability to operate a computerized cash register.
Knowledge of retail floor sales techniques and visual merchandising techniques.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Employee development and performance management skills.
Knowledge of basic fiscal and personnel management principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

4 years’ managerial experience in retail that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.
Opportunity Type: Less than 100% time w/benefit package
Percent or Time or Hours per Week: 29 hrs/week
Advertised Salary: Commensurate, plus excellent benefits
