    We were just out there on a tour of the new lands with.Mr. Reitze. The archeology is amazing as was Mr. Reitze’s expertise.

    Depending on the scale, it appears that it could be a lid for a small necked pot. The central holes, with a tapered stick could serve as a handle and the notches would release enough steam when heated to keep from rupturing the pot. The soapstone would retain heat well and disperse it evenly.
    I suspect it may not have been finished, perhaps snapping as the second set of notches were being formed.

    If you fold it in half between the holes it is perfectly symmetrical
